What Constitutes a Dental Emergency?

When determining whether your dental issue is an emergency case or not, it’s always best to speak with a dental professional. While there is some variation in each scenario, please contact our office if you’re experiencing any of the following:

  • Abscessed Tooth

  • Broken Tooth

  • Chronic Toothache

  • Dislodged Tooth

Cost of Emergency Dental Care

During your visit, we’ll diagnose you and provide you with an accurate cost breakdown so you know exactly what to expect before we move forward with treatment. We’ll never hit you with hidden fees, and we’ll always go over your financial options with you. Our office is insurance friendly, and we proudly work with CareCredi patient financing.

We Accept New Patients

If you’ve never visited our office before, we’ll treat you with the same efficiency and precision as we do our existing patients. Our goal is for you to trust our compassionate team to care for your smile for both emergencies and scheduled visits. Once we’ve taken care of your emergency, we hope you’ll return to us for all of your preventive, restorative, and cosmetic dental needs!

What should I do if I lose a tooth?

In a case where an adult tooth has been accidentally dislodged, the first thing you will want to do is locate the tooth and clean it off as best as you can. Then, either gently replace the tooth in the socket and bite down on a piece of gauze or cloth if possible or put the tooth in a cup of milk or saliva. Once this is done, you will want to get to our office as quickly as you can. Time is of the essence when it comes to a dislodged tooth, and the faster you can get to your nearest emergency dentist, the better the odds are that we will be able to save your tooth.

Should I go to an emergency dentist or the emergency room?

When an emergency occurs, patients will sometimes visit their nearest emergency room instead of scheduling a same-day visit with their emergency dentist. While the ER can handle many different situations, many of them lack the equipment and experienced staff required to treat dental-related emergencies. If your emergency situation involves your teeth, gums, or mouth, please give our office a call, and our team will be happy to help. Broken jaws or additional emergencies that are more time-sensitive should be treated at a hospital.

How can I be prepared for dental emergencies?

Dental emergencies can sometimes be prevented by taking care of your teeth and gums and scheduling restorative treatments promptly. However, accidents do happen, so it’s also wise to be prepared should a dental emergency arise in your household. We recommend keeping gauze on hand in case of emergencies that involve excessive bleeding or injuries. Salt can be used to create warm saltwater rinses, which can be used to cleanse the mouth and numb tooth pain. We also advise our patients to save our practice number to their contacts so they can contact our front office quickly.
