Dental Exams & Cleanings in Chico, CA

Need to schedule your next cleaning and dental exam with a dentist in Chico? Routine preventive care is an essential part of maintaining a healthy and beautiful smile, and our team at Gary Johnson DDS would be happy to find a convenient time for you to come see us. Please give our office a call or send us a message through our contact form, and we will be in touch with you as soon as possible.

How often should I get a cleaning and exam?

We recommend that patients visit our office at least twice per year to have their teeth professionally cleaned and their smiles examined for signs of tooth decay, gum disease, oral cancer, and other potential issues. If you have periodontal disease, we may advise you to schedule more frequent visits with our team to ensure that your gums get the proper treatment that they need. Routine visits are also a great time to bring up any questions or concerns you may have about your oral health or ask about other services we offer.

Will a professional teeth cleaning whiten my teeth?

The products that we use during cleanings are excellent at removing plaque, tartar, and some surface-level stains that you may have from drinking coffee, tea, and other dark-colored drinks. However, routine teeth cleanings are not designed to make teeth appear much whiter than they were before. If you are interested in professional teeth whitening, our office provides in-office teeth whitening treatments, take-home teeth whitening, and advice for keeping your teeth bright white. Contact our office or visit our teeth whitening page to learn more!

How long do routine dental visits take?

A routine cleaning and exam will take about thirty minutes to one hour on average. The length of your appointment will depend on whether or not you are receiving X-rays, if we diagnose any problems, or if you want to schedule an additional service like a fluoride treatment during your appointment. Each appointment is time that we carve out specifically for you, and while we always plan to keep things on track and keep our services convenient and efficient, we never want our patients to feel rushed.
